Grahamstown Woodworkers

SHARED EQUIPMENT

The GWG is building up a collection of equipment that can be borrowed by members. The aim is to purchase items that individuals are only likely to use very occasionally and thus can't justify buying the tool for themselves. We started with the purchase of a small Jet lathe, plus chuck and a basic set of woodturning chisels. This has been very useful for demonstrations and has been borrowed by several members.

Recently funds have been used to buy sharpening equipment for the use of members. We now have diamond sharpeners with 350 and 600 mesh diamonds and waterstones with 1000 to 6000 mesh. Please NOTE that these sharpeners must be used with WATER as lubricant. Oil must not be used. This equipment may be borrowed from Billy de Klerk (b.deklerk@ru.ac,za or 084-582-6072).

REMEMBER that there are several members always ready to lend specialized pieces of equipment if you are stuck! Ask around before you buy!
